Fr. Wilberth Daza Rodas OFM was murdered on Holy Saturday at 11:00 PM in the monastery of St. Francis in Santa Cruz. The perpetrator was probably under the influence of drugs and is currently wanted by the police. It is believed to have been a robbery. After the crime, the hierarchs of the Catholic Church appealed to the Bolivians for acting towards living in peace and brotherhood. Fr. Wilberth Daza Rodas was born in Machareti (Sucre department), on 26 September 1979. He made his first vows on 1 February 2004 in the Order of Friars Minor in the Missionary Province of St. Anthony. On 14 March 2009, he made perpetual vows. He pursued his missionary work in the departments of Sucre, Cochabamba, Copacabana (La Paz), Machareti, San Javier. Recently, he has been an economist in St. Francis Monastery in Santa Cruz.
